Her current research projects focus on the role of political and economic elites and public-private relations in development and environmental governance in Latin America. She is leading a NFR funded project on the strategies of business groups in Central America in the context of globalization and one work package on the implications of shifting elites for environmental policies and politics in Latin America in a large EU funded project on environmental governance in Latin America. She is also increasingly interested in the illicit economy in Latin America and its implications for state authority and state-society relations.
